Privacy  Policy

Updated: February 26, 2010

Thank you for visiting Review Broadway. This privacy policy tells you how we use personal information collected at this site. Please read this privacy policy before using the site or submitting any personal information. By using the site, you are accepting the practices described in this privacy policy. These practices may be changed, but any changes will be posted and changes will only apply to activities and information on a going forward, not retroactive basis. You are encouraged to review the Privacy Policy whenever you visit the site to make sure that you understand how any personal information you provide will be used.

1. Types of User Data We Collect

We collect two types of user data: (1) anonymous data that is automatically collected from all visitors to the Site (described below under "Anonymous Data"); and (2) personally-identifiable data that you voluntarily submit to us (described below under "Personal Data").

Anonymous Data. We automatically collect Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and domain names through our server. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our Site, analyze trends, gather broad demographic information for use in order for us to improve the Site, and deliver customized, personalized content. We also track the number and frequency of hits per page on an aggregate basis, as well as other anonymous traffic data.

Personal Data. We may collect Personal Data that you voluntarily provide, such as your name, e-mail address, and similar information, when you participate in certain activities on the Site, including when you:

  • Post comments on Review Broadway reviews;
  • Send correspondence to Review Broadway's editorial staff;
  • Register your membership or update your membership information; or
  • Participate in any activity that requires your Personal Data.

We do not at any time request or store any other sensitive information from our visitors, such as credit card or social security numbers, and this information should not be voluntarily provided to Review Broadway or posted in public areas of the Site for any reason. Certain sensitive information, such as telephone numbers and real names, can be added to your Personal Data, with the option to hide it from regular Members and viewers of the site; however, this Personal Data will be viewable by members of the Review Broadway editorial or administrative staff.

We do not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13.

2. Cookies

We collect some data through the use of cookies. Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that are transferred to your computer's hard drive. Use of cookies makes web-surfing easier by performing certain functions such as saving your passwords and your personal preferences regarding your use of a particular web site. Many consider the use of cookies to be an industry standard.

We use cookies whenever you log in to your Membership account or conduct any Site activity while you are still logged in. A cookie will be stored on your computer's hard drive solely for the purpose of linking your user activity with your user information, for example, automatically filling in the username you have chosen when you elect to comment on a review. These "remember" options are offered only for your convenience. If you do not choose to register as a Member, other cookies recording your selected user preferences may still be stored on your computer's hard drive.

Your browser may already be set to accept cookies. If you would prefer not to receive cookies, you can alter the configuration of your browser to refuse cookies. If you choose to have your browser refuse cookies, it is possible that some areas of our Site will not function properly when you view them, including but not limited to any and all Membership features.

3. How We Use Anonymous Data

Review Broadway uses Anonymous Data to identify the source of user traffic (for example, country of origin), but we are not able to use this data to identify individual users. We use data on which sections of the Site are most visited to evaluate the popularity of our different Web pages and to improve the Site. Review Broadway does not publicly link Anonymous Data with the Personal Data you provide to us. In addition to your name and e-mail address that you provide when you choose to comment on reviews, the software powering the comments on our Site automatically records the IP address associated with your comments. Members will have Anonymous Data recorded privately within their account information, for the purposes of safety, security, and site administration; these Anonymous Data are never publicly displayed.

4. How We Use Personal Data

Review Broadway uses the Personal Data you provide:

  • To fulfill the request for which you specifically provided the data;
  • To send you e-mail with information that you may request, or to reply to your correspondence which you send via e-mail, our Feedback page, or through comments you may post on our reviews; and
  • To personalize the content that you see based on the activities that you have selected on the Site.

The Site is hosted by servers located in the United States. Accordingly, if you are located outside of the United States, the Personal Data you provide to us will be transferred to the United States. By submitting your Personal Data, you consent to its transfer and storage in the United States and its use in accordance with the purposes for which it was originally collected.

5. Sharing With Third Parties

Except as described in this Privacy Policy, we will not share your Personal Data with any third party unless we first notify you and offer you a choice to consent to such further use, for example, through an opt-out or opt-in request.

We may use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our Site. These companies may use information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices about not having this information used by these companies, please visit the advertiser websites.

Where possible, the Review Broadway may attempt to opt out of the collection of information on our Site for the purposes of interest-based advertising. However, even if we are able to so opt out, you may still experience interest-based advertising on our Site based on your interactions with advertisers outside of our Site, such as visits to an advertiser's website or another website on which the advertiser serves ads.

We may disclose and use Personal Data when it is necessary to enforce our Terms of Use or this Privacy Policy, or when we, in good faith, believe that the law requires us to disclose your Personal Data to third parties.

6. Posting Of Your Information On Our Site

We will not post or otherwise share your full name, e-mail address or other Personal Data on our Site unless you expressly transmit your permission, or choose to let us do so by checking the "make public" boxes when you provide us with your Personal Data. Please note, however, that even if you do not check "make public" boxes, we may still post a provided username on our Site along with the contents of your contributions. If you do opt-in to allowing us to use your Personal Data, we may post it on our Site.

Regardless of whether or not you have opted in to allowing us to share your Personal Data, if you provide us with Personal Data on the Site within the content of a comment on one of our reviews, your personal information will be automatically posted in such a way as to be viewable to all visitors to the Site. Review Broadway cannot be held liable for the collection, use, or dissemination of your Personal Data by third parties who access your Personal Data in this way.

7. Other Web Sites

Our Site contains links to other Web sites. Please note that when you click on one of these links, you are entering another Web site for which the Review Broadway has no responsibility. We encourage you to read the privacy statements on all such sites as their policies may differ from ours.
